Updates to Fitbit, our Privacy Policy, and Terms of Service

Fitbit

At Fitbit, our goal is to help you lead a healthier, more active life by empowering you with data, inspiration, and guidance to reach your goals.

We’re updating our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service to support our latest products as well as upcoming changes to European data protection law. We’re also introducing new and improved account settings to provide all of our customers with more control over their data. Here are some of the key updates:

  • Greater transparency. We appreciate that you are trusting us with information that is important to you. We want you to understand how and why we use your data and how you can control that use. Our updated Privacy Policy more clearly describes our data practices, like our data retention, and how you can use your account settings to manage your data.

  • More control. We have enhanced the settings we give you to control your data. With these improvements, it is easier for you to edit or delete personal data you have given us, like your profile data; control how your personal stats and other information are visible to other Fitbit users; download your information, including data about your activities, body, foods, and sleep; control the notifications you receive from us; and manage the third-party apps you have authorized to access your account.

  • New products. The Privacy Policy updates support our new software features, including the addition of female health tracking to our Fitbit app and smartwatches, and the introduction of family accounts where parents can set up accounts for their children to use with select Fitbit devices, as described in our Privacy Policy for Children’s Accounts.

  • Our European operations. We updated our Terms of Service to reflect our global business. If you live in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Fitbit International Limited, an Irish company, will provide you with the Fitbit services and control your personal data. This update does not affect the services we provide you. If you reside elsewhere, your service agreement remains with Fitbit, Inc., a U.S. company.

Please read the updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service in full. By using our services on or after May 24, 2018, you’ll be agreeing to the revisions, unless you accept them sooner, such as when you agree to them while creating an account or pairing your Fitbit device with your account. You can review the previous versions in our archives of previous privacy policies and terms of service.

Thanks for your interest in Fitbit!
